WASHINGTON — Washington Nationals shortstop Trea Turner left Thursday’s game against the Chicago Cubs in the top of the ninth inning with an undisclosed injury after getting hit by a pitch in his previous plate appearances.
He was replaced by Stephen Drew with the Nationals leading 4-2. Turner was hit by a pitch on his right arm near his wrist in the bottom of the seventh.
There was no immediate word on the status of Turner, as the Nationals are one of the few teams that do not release injury information during a game.
Turner was 1-for-2 Thursday and also reached on a walk. He stole his 35th base in the first inning. He has seven homers and 32 RBIs.
