The Seattle Mariners acquired right-handed relief pitcher Arquimedes Caminero from the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday.

The Pirates will receive a player to be named and a conditional player to be named later.

To make room on the Mariners’ major league 40-man roster, right-hander Blake Parker was designated for assignment. The Mariners have 10 days to trade, release or outright the contract of Parker to the minors.

Caminero, 29, was 1-2 with one save and a 3.51 ERA over 41 innings with 32 strikeouts in 39 relief appearances with Pittsburgh this season. In his last 21 outings, he had a 2.13 ERA over 25 1/3 innings with 19 strikeouts since May 24.

Caminero made three rehab appearances with Triple-A Indianapolis after being placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left quad from May 25-June 11.

In parts of four major league seasons, Caminero is 6-4 with one save and a 3.86 ERA over 135 1/3 innings with 125 strikeouts in 131 games, all relief appearances, with Miami (2013-14) and Pittsburgh (2015-16). He was signed by the Marlins as a non-drafted free agent out of the Dominican Republic in 2005.

Parker, 31, appeared in one game with Seattle this season, tossing one scoreless inning in relief against Boston on Thursday. In 38 appearances with Triple-A Tacoma this season, Parker was 1-2 with 19 saves with a 2.72 ERA over 39 2/3 innings with 56 strikeouts and 11 walks. In parts of three major league seasons, he has compiled a record of 2-3 with a 3.63 ERA over 74 1/3 innings with 85 strikeouts and 25 walks in 75 career appearances. Over 10 minor league seasons, Parker is 15-20 with a 2.85 ERA over 423 innings with 480 strikeouts and 192 walks in 333 career games with the Chicago Cubs and Mariners organizations. He was signed by Seattle as a minor league free agent on Dec. 18, 2015.
