Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Matt Garza began the 2016 season on the disabled list with a strained shoulder muscle.

Garza was placed on the 15-day DL retroactive to Saturday and right-hander Tyler Cravy was recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs on Tuesday to make Garza’s place on the roster.

Right-hander Taylor Jungmann will move up in the rotation and pitch in Garza’s spot on Wednesday against the San Francisco Giants.

The 32-year-old Garza experienced right shoulder tightness that forced him to leave an exhibition start last Friday in the fourth inning. He finished the spring with a 1-0 record and a 4.50 ERA in six starts spanning 22 innings.

In 2015, Garza had one of his worst major league seasons with a 6-14 record and a 5.68 ERA in 25 starts for the Brewers. His career record in 10 seasons with the Minnesota Twins, Tampa Bay Rays, Chicago Cubs, Texas Rangers and the Brewers is 81-89 with a 3.99 ERA.
