The Atlanta Falcons issued second-round tenders on Monday to two restricted free agents — linebacker Paul Worrilow and right tackle Ryan Schraeder.
The Falcons also tendered exclusive rights to free agent safety Ricardo Allen.
Meanwhile, linebacker James Laurinaitis was meeting with the Falcons on Monday. Laurinaitis was released by the Los Angeles Rams last month, and has also visited with the New Orleans Saints in advance of the opening of free agency on Wednesday. He started 112 consecutive games and has 852 career tackles, 16.5 sacks and 10 interceptions.
According to ESPN.com, the second-round tender is worth $2.553 million to Worrilow, the starting middle linebacker. The Falcons would get a second-round pick if Worrilow receives an offer the Falcons don’t want to match.
The 6-foot-1, 232-pound Worrilow, 25, was originally signed as a college free agent by the Falcons following the 2013 NFL Draft out of Delaware. In his three seasons with the team, Worrilow has played in 47 games (43 starts) and has posted 365 total tackles, eight passes defensed, four sacks, three forced fumbles, two interceptions, and one fumble recovery. Last season, he started all 15 of the games he played and recorded 95 total tackles, four passes defensed, two interceptions, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
The Falcons also extended the same level tender to the 27-year-old Schraeder, who is coming off a 16-start season.
The 6-7, 300-pound Schraeder was originally signed as a college free agent by the Falcons following the 2013 draft out of Valdosta State. He has played in 42 games (30 starts) over the past three years for the team. Last season, Schraeder only allowed two sacks.
The 5-9, 186-pound Allen, 24, was selected by the Falcons in the fifth round of the 2014 draft out of Purdue. He spent the first 15 weeks of the 2014 season as a member of the Falcons’ practice squad. Last season, Allen received his first major playing time as he started 14 of the 15 games he played. He recorded 68 total tackles, five passes defensed, three interceptions (team high), one sack and one fumble recovery.
