The Baltimore Orioles reached agreement with free-agent pitcher Yovani Gallardo on a restructured two-year deal, $22 million contract, according to media reports Wednesday.
The deal could be worth as much as $33 million over three years and includes a team buyout for $2 million after two years or a club option of a third year worth $13 million, ESPN.com reported.
The two sides apparently reached an agreement Saturday that was held up by the Orioles’ concerns about Gallardo’s shoulder after reviewing his physical.
Gallardo compiled a 102-75 record with a 3.66 ERA in nine major league seasons, including eight with the Milwaukee Brewers.
Last year with the Texas Rangers, the right-hander posted a 13-11 record with a 3.42 ERA in 33 starts.
Because Gallardo rejected a qualifying offer from the Rangers, the Orioles will give up their 14th overall pick in the amateur draft in June.
