Colorado second baseman D.J. LeMahieu and the Rockies avoided arbitration on Wednesday when LeMahieu agreed to a two-year contract with the team.
LeMahieu, who was named to the All-Star team last season, will make $3 million this season and $4.8 million in 2017, according to CBSSports. He will remain under the Rockies’ control in 2018 as well.
Heading into the scheduled arbitration meeting, LeMahieu had asked for $3.3 million and the team offered $2.8 million.
LeMahieu, 27, hit .301 with six homers and a .746 OPS in 150 games last season. He also stole 23 bases in 2015 and is considered a good defensive second baseman.
