Twins 3B Plouffe agrees to one-year deal

The Minnesota Twins and third baseman Trevor Plouffe agreed on a one-year, $7.25 million contract on Monday to avoid arbitration.

The settlement provides Plouffe with a raise of $2.45 million. He earned $4.8 million last season when he batted .244 with 22 homers and a career-high 86 RBIs.

Plouffe requested $7.9 million in arbitration and the Twins countered with $7 million.

Plouffe has a career batting of average of .245 with 84 homers and 310 RBIs in five-plus seasons with Minnesota.
