West Virginia player notes for Mar 7th, 2019

David Sills V – Noteworthy
David Sills was never known to have lightning speed during his time at WVU, and while his Combine times in the 40-yard dash don’t jump off the page, they didn’t do anything to hurt his draft stock. Sills ran the 40 twice – posting a 4.57 on his first attempt and 4.59 the second time. He measured in at 6-3, 211 pounds with 32-inch arms and 9-inch hands. The subject of his collegiate position change was brought up during his time with the media in Indianapolis. Sills came to WVU as a former phenom quarterback prospect but was used mostly as a receiver during his freshman seasons.

He then transferred to El Camino College in California in an attempt to play quarterback at the collegiate level, but when no offers came in following his one season there it was back to Morgantown to commit to playing receiver in Dana Holgorsen’s offense. From there, all he did was turn himself into one of the top receivers in the country and a threat to score any time he touched the ball. During his final two seasons at WVU, Sills caught 33 touchdown passes. “The goal was to play on Sundays, and figuring out what’s going to be the best way and to be able to have the longest career,” Sills said. “And, obviously, quarterback was what I wanted to do – that was my dream. – Charleston Gazette-Mail
