Second-round draft pick Montrezl Harrell is close to reaching agreement on a three-yar contract with the Houston Rockets.
Harrell, the No. 32 overall selection in the 2015 NBA Draft hasn’t signed a contract yet, Yahoo Sports reported Tuesday. The Rockets apparently have some issues to resolve to fit Harrell under the salary cap for next season.
The 6-foot-8 forward who left Louisville after three years played in the NBA summer league and averaged 14 points and 6.7 rebounds. In his final season with the Cardinals in 2014-15, Harrell averaged 15.7 points and 9.2 rebounds per game.
While working out in Louisville in anticipation of signing a contract, Harrell is not only playing basketball but the good samaritan. On Monday night, Harrell helped pull a motorist out of an overturned, smoking vehicle near campus.
According to a Louisville spokesman, Harrell and others knocked out a window in the vehicle and ran to a nearby business for a fire extinguisher while waiting for emergency crews to arrive on the scene.
