Virginia Tech player notes for Feb 26th, 2019

Braxton Burmeister – Noteworthy
Virginia Tech has added a fourth quarterback to its roster, but it’s unclear when he’ll enroll or be eligible to play. Oregon sophomore Braxton Burmeister has committed to transfer to Tech, the school said Saturday, but a team representative could not say if Burmeister would enroll this summer or in the fall, or if he’d be eligible for the upcoming season or have to sit out a year. Burmeister is not expected to graduate Oregon before leaving, so he would need an NCAA waiver to be eligible to play for Tech in 2019. The 6-foot-1, 204-pound California native, a four-star recruit coming out of high school, started five games and played in seven as a freshman in 2017. He finished 44 for 77 for 330 yards, with two touchdown passes and six interceptions. This past season, he saw action in just four games, preserving a redshirt year. He went 5 for 10 for 43 yards. The Hokies ended this past season with four quarterbacks on their roster, Josh Jackson and Ryan Willis. But Jackson, a two-year starter who missed the final 10 games with a fractured leg, and redshirt freshman Hendon Hooker both put their names in the transfer portal. – Richmond Times-Dispatch
