*Darius Slayton – Noteworthy
Slayton expects to measure well at the Combine, and his speed is one of the biggest reasons why. He’s an athletic anomaly in that sense, combining his elite quickness and athleticism. That’s why he specifically came to Bommarito – why he was willing to put up with the early mornings – because of this facility’s reputation for sculpting a good 40-yard-dash time. Once an elite track runner in high school, Slayton’s mastered the process of sprinting, starting quick and finishing quicker. He understands the intricacies in a way that many football players do not. In fact, had he come back to Auburn, he probably would have joined the track & field roster to compete in relays – noting he’d be “dusted” in individual events because of years off from competitive running. For this 10-yard dash, Slayton gets to the line, starts and completes his long ritual. As he’s about to explode off the line, he accidentally falls in front of the line, and has to do everything again. This entire Draft process for Slayton has been far from perfect. His time at Auburn didn’t allow him to accomplish everything he wanted. Coming to Davie to live on his own was out of his comfort zone, too. There’s no guarantees for Slayton. – AL.com
