All-Star left fielder Alex Gordon, anxious to return to the American League Central-leading Kansas City Royals, said he plans to begin rehab this weekend.
Gordon was sidelined July 8 with a severe groin strain.
Since he went down, the Royals added utility man Ben Zobrist and starter Johnny Cueto.
“I’m tired of watching games from the bench and not being able to participate,” Gordon said. “But slowly I’ve been able to do more and more stuff. We feel like Sunday’s a good time to get things rolling.”
