Adrian Martinez – Noteworthy
Count Tommie Frazier among those who admire the work of Adrian Martinez, in large part because Frazier understands the challenges of leading a college football team as an underclassman. Frazier, arguably the greatest option-style quarterback in college football history, arrived at Nebraska in August 1992 and by the sixth game that season, a 34-24 win at Missouri, he was the starter. “One of the first things I did when I became a starter is I let people know that this is my huddle,” Frazier said Friday. “I think there were certain people who didn’t really like it, because I was this little freshman. But the more I proved myself on the field and showed I knew what I was doing and could handle the pressure, I think that’s when they started to respect me more and started following me.” Frazier has noticed that Martinez’s personality differs from his. “He’s more reserved than I was,” Frazier said. “I had a business mentality. My whole mindset was I’m not here to make friends, I’m here to help win championships.” – Lincoln Journal Star
