Redskins pick up, release LBs

The Washington Redskins signed free agent outside linebacker Sage Harold and waived injured linebacker Trevardo Williams on Friday.

Harold joined the Kansas City Chiefs as a undrafted free agent from James Madison in May but was cut on Aug. 9.

The 6-foot-4, 245-pound Harold was the victim of a numbers game in Kansas City, which is well stocked at his position. But a need arose with the Redskins after Williams suffered a hamstring injury that has persisted during training camp.

Harold had 13 1/3 sacks, 23 1/2 tackles for loss, 73 total tackles and nine quarterback hits at James Madison last fall.

Williams spent part of last season on the Redskins’ roster and had three tackles and a sack against the Philadelphia Eagles during a Week 16 game.
