NEW YORK — The Milwaukee Bucks acquired veteran guard Greivis Vasquez from the Toronto Raptors for the rights to second-round pick Norman Powell and a future first-round pick Thursday.
The trade had been reported earlier but was not made official until the end of the second round of the NBA draft.
The Bucks had been seeking some backcourt depth to go along with third-year guard Michael Carter-Williams, who was obtained from the Philadelphia 76ers at the February trade deadline. Vasquez is entering the last year of his contract and scheduled to make $6.5 million next season.
Vasquez was with the Raptors since being acquired in a December 2013 trade from the Sacramento Kings for forward Rudy Gay. Last year with Toronto, he averaged 9.5 points and 3.7 assists.
Vasquez, 28, was originally drafted in the first round of the Memphis Grizzlies in 2010. In 375 regular-season games, he has averaged 9.2 points and 4.9 assists.
Powell was taken 46th overall after averaging 9.8 points and three rebounds in 141 games as a four-year player with UCLA.
