Boston Red Sox right-hander Justin Masterson will miss his start Sunday at Seattle and probably is headed to the disabled list, manager John Farrell said Wednesday.

Masterson, 30, had a second straight rough start Tuesday, giving up six runs on six hits in 2 1/3 innings vs. the Oakland A’s and suffering his second straight loss. He lasted just 4 1/3 innings in his previous start, giving up four runs on seven hits and walking six in a loss to the Tampa Bay Rays.

He had a “full exam and workup” with the team’s medical staff, Farrell said. “There’s not one specific area to the arm or shoulder that is a cause or reason why we’re seeing reduced velocity and reduced action. There’s some fatigue that’s involved.”

Right-hander Steven Wright likely will replace Masterson on Sunday against Seattle. He pitched 5 2/3 innings in relief of Masterson on Tuesday.
