Blue Jays demote RHP Castro to Triple-A

Toronto Blue Jays reliever Miguel Castro, who has a team-high four saves, has been demoted to Triple-A Buffalo.

The rookie right-hander was sent down Sunday after Toronto’s 10-7 loss to the Cleveland Indians. He allowed two runs in 1 1/3 innings in the game. He has a 10.13 ERA with two losses and two blown saves over his past seven appearances.

Castro had replaced Brett Cecil as the team’s closer last month, only to lose the job back to Cecil after his recent struggles.

The team also optioned right-hander Scott Copeland to Triple-A, and called up right-handers Steve Delabar and Chad Jenkins.

Delabar, a 31-year-old former major league All-Star, was 2-0 with a 1.00 ERA in nine games for Buffalo. He has appeared in 152 major league games with a 3.72 ERA and 13-9 record.

Jenkins, 27, has made four starts for Buffalo with a 2.89 ERA. He has made 44 career appearances for Toronto and has gone 3-4 with a 3.25 ERA.
