The Toronto Blue Jays released outfielder Andy Dirks, who is likely to miss the rest of the season to undergo back surgery
Dirks began the season on the disabled list with the Buffalo Bisons. He was claimed on waivers in October 2014 and re-signed to a minor league contract in January.
Dirks previously underwent back surgery in March 2014 and was limited to 14 games.
He batted .276 with 24 home runs in 297 career games with the Detroit Tigers.
