The Texas Rangers recalled right-hander Anthony Ranaudo from Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday to start against the Los Angeles Angels.
Right-hander Phil Klein, who had a 7.71 ERA in six games, was optioned to Round Rock on Tuesday night.
Ranaudo made his Texas debut, taking the rotation spot of injured left-hander Derek Holland.
Ranaudo, a first-round pick of the Boston Red Sox in 2010, was acquired from the Red Sox in January. He started seven games for the Red Sox in 2014, going 4-3 with a 4.81 ERA.
He had pitched one game with Round Rock this season, giving up four hits and striking out six in five scoreless innings.
