Cavaliers cruise to a 111-89 win over Grizzlies

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Cleveland Cavaliers cruised to a 111-89 win over the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night at FedExForum behind a game-high 24 points from point guard Kyrie Irving and a double-double by forward Kevin Love with 22 points and 10 rebounds.

The Cavaliers (47-26) blew the game open in the third quarter, going on a 22-4 run to take a 86-57 lead with 1:52 left in the quarter after a 3-pointer from guard Matthew Dellavedova (nine points, four assists).

The Grizzlies cut the 29-point deficit to 23 points but trailed 91-66 going into the fourth quarter.

Forward LeBron James had 20 points, eight rebounds and five assists for the Cavaliers. Center Timofey Mozgov contributed 14 points, nine rebounds, four assists and a block.

Cavs guard JR Smith had 13 points and six assists and forward Tristan Thompson collected 11 rebounds and two points off the bench.

Center Marc Gasol led Memphis with 18 points. Reserve point guard Beno Udrih finished with 15 points and forward Jeff Green chipped in 11 points. Point guard Mike Conley had 10 points and five assists.

The Cavaliers have won 24 of their last 25 games when scoring at least 100 points and are 38-5 this season when scoring at least 100. They swept the season series with Memphis for the first time since the 2008-09 season.

The Cavs were 43 of 84 from the floor for 51.2 percent. They also made 14 3-pointers, compiled a 49-32 rebounding advantage and had 30 assists.

Memphis was 37 of 85 from the field for 43.5 percent. After a couple of hot shooting nights from deep, the Grizzlies went 4 of 17 from 3-point range for 23.5 percent.

Cleveland closed the first half on a 9-2 run and took a 55-42 lead into the break. Irving led all scorers with 18 first-half points. James had 13. Gasol led Memphis with 14 points.

The Grizzlies shot just 39.5 percent from the field in the first half and made only 1 of 6 3-point attempts (16.7 percent).

NOTES: Memphis reached 50 wins for the first time in history before the end of March. The Grizzlies have qualified for the NBA playoffs eight times in 14 seasons since moving from Vancouver to Memphis. … In the last 32 games (since Jan. 13), Cleveland’s LeBron James is averaging 26.5 points on 49.6 percent shooting from the field, 6.2 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 1.8 steals in 35.2 minutes. James leads the NBA in points per game in the fourth quarter at 7.3. He has scored at least 10 points in the fourth quarter a team-high 15 times this season. … Since Jan. 15, the Cavaliers owned the highest winning percentage (27-6, .818), road record (12-6, .667) and record against Western Conference teams (13-1, .929). … Cavs PG Kyrie Irving is shooting a team-high 41.1 percent from 3-point range, 11th in the NBA. He was 17 of 30 (56.7 percent) in his last six games from long distance.
