Minnesota Timberwolves forward Shabazz Muhammad is expected to miss at least two weeks with a strained oblique.
The second-year player was injured Friday against the Milwaukee Bucks and did not play Saturday against the San Antonio Spurs. An MRI revealed the injury, the team announced, and Muhammad will be re-evaluated in two weeks.
Muhammad had started 13 games and was averaging 13.7 points and 4.0 rebounds.
Rookie Glen Robinson III, who reportedly was slated for the NBA Development League this week, will stay with the team now.
The Timberwolves have been shorthanded for most of the season and have lost 15 consecutive games.
However, even as they lose Muhammad, they appear set to regain the services of center Nikola Pekovic and guard Kevin Martin, who both have returned to practice. Pekovic has missed 27 games with an ankle injury, and Martin has been out 26 games with a wrist injury.
Also, point guard Ricky Rubio has been out since early November with an ankle injury.
