The New Orleans Saints restructured the contract of defensive tackle Brodrick Bunkley to create $2.85 million in salary cap space, according to reports Wednesday.
The New Orleans Times-Picayune reported that Bunkley cut his 2014 salary from $4.5 million to $1.65 million. His base salary in 2014 is now $1.3 million and he will receive a $300,000 roster bonus on April 10. His base salary in 2015 and 2016 will remain at $4.4 million.
The 30-year-old is a rotational defensive tackle. He played in 13 games and had eight tackles and five assists last season.
