Julian Edelman re-signed with the New England Patriots on Tuesday, three days after the wide receiver announced on Twitter that he was staying with the team.

According to reports, the contract was for four years and $17 million.

Edelman was quarterback Tom Brady’s top target last season, catching a career-high 105 passes for 1,056 yards, including six touchdowns, to help offset the loss of Brady’s go-guy receiver, Wes Welker, to the Denver Broncos in free agency after the 2012 season.

On Monday, the Patriots signed free-agent wide receiver Brandon LaFell from the Carolina Panthers. New England also in the past week added cornerbacks Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner and retained tight end Michael Hoomanawanui.

The Patriots drafted Edelman in the seventh round in 2009. For his career, he has 174 catches for 1,770 yards with 10 touchdowns. He is also averaging 12.3 yards on 107 punt returns.
