The Jacksonville Jaguars signed second-round running back T.J. Yeldon to a four-year contract Wednesday.

The 6-foot-1, 226-pound Yeldon, who was the No. 36 overall selection, is expected to be the Jaguars’ No. 1 tailback this season. Denard Robinson and Toby Gerhart are the primary veteran competitors.

Yeldon’s slotted signing bonus is $2,960,928 and his 2015 salary cap number is $1,075,282, according to the Florida Times Union.

“It feels good — it’s been a dream since I was little to be in the NFL,” Yeldon said Wednesday after the Jaguars’ second organized training activities practice. “I knew I was signing. I talked to my agent last night about it and he told me it would happen today.”

In three seasons for the Alabama Crimson Tide, Yeldon ran for 3,322 yards and 37 touchdowns on 576 carries.

“It’s kind of like Alabama — the Pro Style (offense) and everything is kind of the same so I didn’t have any problems doing some of the stuff,” Yeldon said. “Now I have to pick up the different plays, the blitzes and the (terminology) of it.”

The Jaguars’ lone unsigned pick is offensive guard A.J. Cann, a third-round selection from South Carolina.
