Colts waive four, sign 15

The Indianapolis Colts waived four players on Monday — wide receiver Kadron Boone, defensive end Gannon Conway, running back Jeff Demps and offensive tackle Matt Hall.

The Colts also agreed to terms with 15 undrafted free agents.

Boone was originally signed by the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2014. After his release from the Eagles at the end of training camp, he spent time on the St. Louis Rams’ practice squad before being released on Oct. 29. Boone was signed to the Colts’ practice squad on Dec. 31 where he remained for all three postseason contests.

Conway was signed by the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent on May 13, 2014. He was released three days later and signed by the Colts as a free agent on June 11. Conway spent time with the Colts in training camp before being released on Aug. 30. He was then signed to the practice squad on Jan. 15 where he remained for the team’s AFC Championship Game appearance.

Demps competed in two games with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2013 and posted one carry for 13 yards and three receptions for 21 yards. He was signed to the Bucs’ practice squad at the start of the 2014 season but was released in October. Demps spent one week on the Colts’ practice squad in October before his release. He was re-signed by Indianapolis to a reserve/future contract on Jan. 19.

Hall was originally signed by the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2014. He was waived by Minnesota on July 25 and signed by the Colts two days later. Hall spent the 2014 season on injured reserve.

The 15 undrafted free agents signed were: quarterback Bryan Bennett, wide receiver Quan Bray, cornerback Donald Celiscar, linebacker Cody Galea, linebacker Terrell Hartsfield, linebacker Zachary Hodges, cornerback Joshua Mitchell, wide receiver Ezell Ruffin, cornerback Al-Hajj Shabazz, tight end Jean Sifrin, tight end Justin Sinz, safety Robert Smith, linebacker Junior Sylvestre, running back Tyler Varga and center Brandon Vitabile.

Bennett, 6-2, 211 pounds, played in 27 games at Southeastern Louisiana, throwing for 5,522 yards with 39 touchdowns in two seasons as the starting quarterback. He also rushed for 1,715 yards and 31 touchdowns.

Bray, 5-10, 195 pounds, finished his career at Auburn with 90 receptions for 849 yards and seven touchdowns.

Celiscar, 5-11, 183 pounds, totaled 247 tackles, 10 interceptions and 55 passes defensed at Western Michigan.

Galea, 6-3, 255 pounds, totaled 114 tackles, 7.5 sacks, 15.5 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and one pass defensed at San Diego State.

Hartsfield, 6-3, 246 pounds, recorded 61 tackles, 10.5 sacks, 16 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, three fumble recoveries and three passes defensed in two seasons with the Cincinnati Bearcats.

Hodges, 6-3, 235 pounds, compiled 26 sacks and 41 tackles for loss at Harvard.

Mitchell, 5-9, 173 pounds, played in 47 games at Nebraska, finishing his career with 104 tackles, 3.0 sacks, three interceptions, 25 passes defensed, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble.

Ruffin, 6-0, 218 pounds, played in 32 games in three seasons at San Diego State. He caught 111 passes for 1,877 yards and five touchdowns.
Shabazz, 6-0, 200 pounds, played in 47 games in four seasons at West Chester University, compiling 151 tackles, nine interceptions, 5.0 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, one blocked kick and 32 passes defensed.
Sifrin, 6-5, 245 pounds, played in 11 games in one season at Massachusetts. He caught 42 passes for 642 yards and six touchdowns.

Sinz, 6-4, 249 pounds, finished his career at Purdue with 80 receptions for 670 yards and seven touchdowns.

Smith, 5-10, 204 pounds, played in 53 games in four years at Clemson. He tallied 182 tackles, one sack, six tackles for loss, four interceptions, one forced fumble, three fumble recoveries and seven passes defensed for the Tigers.

Sylvestre, 6-0, 222 pounds, ended his career at Toledo with 286 tackles, 7.5 sacks, one interception, three forced fumbles and eight passes defensed.

Varga, 5-11, 222 pounds, finished his career at Yale with 2,985 rushing yards and 31 touchdowns.

Vitabile, 6-3, 310 pounds, started all 50 games he played in during his four years at Northwestern.
