The Indianapolis Colts on Thursday signed Demarco Cox, a former basketball player who did not play college football.

Cox, who is 6 feet 8 and 294 pounds, played four years of basketball at Mississippi, including a medical redshirt, and finished as a graduate transfer at George Tech this season. His career ended last week in the ACC tournament.

The Colts are expected to try him at offensive tackle, where he starred in high school before turning down football scholarships to Alabama, LSU and Ohio State.

Cox, who is a cousin of Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Fletcher Cox, continues a trend by the Colts, who also have former basketball players Joe Reitz and Erik Swoope on the roster.
