Denver Broncos cornerback Chris Harris Jr. officially signed his restricted free agent tender, the team announced Tuesday.

Harris will play the 2014 season at a salary of $2.187 million.

“I’m just glad to get it over with and be able to know I’ll be here one more year,” Harris told the team’s website. “I’m definitely happy. This is where I want to be and to be able to play here another year, I’m all in to be a leader on the defense and get us back to the Super Bowl.”

Harris (5-10, 199 pounds) is a fourth-year player who has started 31 of 47 regular-season games and three of four playoff contests for the Broncos since being signed by the club as a college free agent in 2011 from Kansas.

His career totals include 191 tackles (165 solo), seven interceptions, 2.5 sacks, 29 passes defensed and two fumble recoveries in the regular season to go along with 18 defensive stops (12 solo) and five passes defensed in postseason play.

In 2013, Harris posted 65 tackles (58 solo), three interceptions and 14 passes defensed. He emerged as a regular starter for the Broncos in 2012, opening the final 12 games of the regular season and allowing the fifth-fewest receiving yards (400) and tying for the eighth-fewest completions allowed (35) in the NFL among players targeted at least 60 times.
