Jerry Jones claims the Dallas Cowboys are a better offense in 2015 without DeMarco Murray, but there are signs the team remains unsettled at the running position.
The Cowboys worked out former Houston Texans running back Ben Tate, who bounced around the league in 2014 after being cut by the Cleveland Browns, and could look to bring in former Arkansas blazer Felix Jones, a onetime first-round pick of Cowboys and college teammate of potential Murray replacement Darren McFadden.
Murray handled the ball more than 500 times for the Cowboys last season but left in free agency for a $40 million deal with the Eagles.
Dallas responded by signing McFadden, the oft-injured former Oakland Raiders’ first-rounder who played all 16 games last season for the first time in his career.
Tate turns 27 in August and began the 2014 season as the starting running back for the Browns after signing a two-year, $6 million deal. He was released by Cleveland and claimed by the Vikings, who parted ways with Tate before the end of the season and he was picked up by the Steelers.
Jones last played in the NFL in 2013.
