Cleveland Browns rookie running back Trent Richardson, who had knee surgery on Aug. 9, is expected to be ready to play in the Browns’ regular-season opener, ESPN reported Thursday, based on a source.

He is not likely to do much work for the time being, though, as he continues to heal from what was termed routine arthroscopic surgery.

Richardson was the third overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft. He has not played in any preseason games.
