Not satisfied with the veteran backups on the roster behind starter E.J. Manuel, the Buffalo Bills waived another quarterback on Tuesday.

The Bills dumped Thad Lewis just a day after severing ties with Dennis Dixon and signed career backup quarterback Jordan Palmer.

Buffalo also placed linebacker Kiko Alonso on the reserve/non-football injury list. He had reconstructive knee surgery in July after tearing the ACL during an offseason workout and is not expected to play this season.

That leaves Jeff Tuel as the Bills’ probable backup to Manuel. Tuel played in two games last season and completed 26 of 59 passes (44.1 percent) for 309 yards and one touchdown with three interceptions.

Lewis started five games for the Bills last season and had some decent moments, completing 59.2 percent of his passes for 1,092 yards and four touchdowns with three interceptions. But the Bills were unhappy with their quarterback play during the offseason and preseason, particularly in the 27-14 exhibition loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Saturday.
