Buffalo Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins reaggravated a rib injury during the first quarter of Thursday night’s preseason finale against the Detroit Lions in Orchard Park, N.Y.
Watkins, who injured his ribs initially on Aug. 16 during an exhibition game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, took a hit from Lions linebacker Ashlee Parker after an incomplete pass and did not return to the game.
Watkins walked slowly to the sideline and was examined by team doctors before he was escorted by the medical staff to the locker room.
A rookie who was the fourth overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, Watkins did not have a catch before he left the game.
