The Arizona Cardinals signed three players who participated in the rookie minicamp on a tryout, including quarterback Phillip Sims.

The team also signed rookie free agent safeties Harold Jones-Quartey and Brandon Person.

The 6-foot-4, 210-pound Sims finished up his collegiate career at Division II Winston-Salem State in 2014, playing in all 11 games and passing for 1,560 yards and 15 touchdowns. Sims initially played at Alabama from 2010-11 before transferring to Virginia and starting four of 12 games played in 2012.

The 5-11, 215-pound Jones-Quartey played at Division II Findlay and was a two-time all-conference selection and honorable mention All-American as a senior. He led the team in tackles each of the last two years, posting a career-high 105 tackles in 2014.

The 6-0, 220-pound Person totaled 246 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, eight interceptions and six forced fumbles in three seasons at Division II Tiffin. He led the team in tackles all three years, with a career-best 92 tackles as a junior in 2013.

To make room on the roster, the Cardinals released wide receiver Travis Harvey, tackle Kelvin Palmer and safety Ross Weaver.
