The San Antonio Spurs have joined the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Ray Allen sweepstakes.

ESPN reported that the Spurs and perhaps the Los Angeles Clippers are vying for the 18-year veteran’s services.

Last month, Allen said he was not sure if he would come back for a 19th season. Despite not being certain about wanting to return, some of the league’s elite teams are courting the 3-point specialist who played for the Miami Heat last season.

Since LeBron James decided to return to Cleveland, the Cavs have been considered the leading contender to land Allen. Allen would be another long-range option for the Cavs, who also signed Mike Miller and James Jones from the Heat.

ESPN also said that the Dallas Mavericks might have interest in signing Allen.

Allen holds the record for most 3-pointers made both in regular-season play (2,973) and the postseason (385). He is not expected to make a decision until September.
