Coach John Calipari’s reputation for producing lottery picks continues to pull suitors to the University of Kentucky, and the Sacramento Kings are reportedly the latest NBA franchise to come knocking.

Calipari, who learned he was selected into the Naismith Hall of Fame in April one day after Kentucky lost for the first time in the 2014-15 college basketball season at the Final Four, just produced another No. 1 overall pick last week, when Wildcats big man Karl-Anthony Towns was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves.

While no formal offer has been made, Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Tuesday that Calipari has been communicating with owner Vivek Ranadive and other members of the Kings ownership group in recent weeks. The deal would give Calipari control of the front office as well as the head coaching position.

The Kings highest-paid player, DeMarcus Cousins, voiced his desire to be traded recently. Cousins played for Calipari at Kentucky.

Calipari is under contract at Kentucky for seven years. He signed a $54 million extension last year, when he was offered a huge contract from the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Calipari said in June that he had no regrets about not joining the Cavaliers.
