The NBA acknowledged Thursday that the referees made a mistake on a no-call against Houston Rockets guard James Harden in the final seconds of Wednesday night’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Harden drove to the basket and was hit across the arm by Memphis forward Zach Randolph with four seconds left, but no foul was called and the Grizzlies ended up winning on a jumper by center Marc Gasol in the final second of a 102-100 victory.
In its daily “Last Two minutes” report, the league office said Randolph should have been whistled for a foul.
“We drove hard to the basket,” Rockets coach Kevin McHale said Wednesday night after the game. “We did what we wanted to do. We wanted to get to the rim and they didn’t call a foul.”
Ten calls from the game’s final two minutes and were reviewed and three were deemed incorrect.
