The Denver Nuggets signed guard Emmanuel Mudiay, their first-round draft pick, on Friday.
The deal is worth $8.1 million over three years, the Denver Post reported. The team has an option for a fourth season.
Mudiay, a 19-year-old from Congo, was the seventh overall pick in the draft and is expected to replace the departed Ty Lawson as the Nuggets’ No. 1 point guard.
In four games at the recent Summer League in Las Vegas, Mudiay averaged 12 points, 5.8 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.25 steals.
Mudiay played for the Guangdong Southern Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association in 2014-15. In 12 games, he averaged 18 points, 6.3 rebounds and 5.9 assists.
