Well-traveled forward Renaldo Balkman, who played in multiple countries last year, signed a contract with the Dallas Mavericks.

The team announced the deal Monday but did not reveal details of the agreement.

The 29-year-old veteran began last season playing in the Philippines but was banned from the league due to an on-court outburst that began as a dispute with the refs but included Balkman pushing refs, coaches and teammates.

Balkman, a longtime member of the Puerto Rican national team, subsequently played for a club team in Puerto Rico.

Balkman was selected in the first round of the 2006 draft by the Knicks, and he had two stints in New York before and after a 2 1/2-year run with the Denver Nuggets. In 221 career NBA games, Balkman averaged four points and 3.5 rebounds.

The 6-foot-8, 208-pound Balkman played for the University of South Carolina, earning MVP honors in the 2006 National Invitation Tournament.
