Free-agent forward Kris Humphries is headed to the Washington Wizards after reaching agreement on a three-year, $13 million deal, Yahoo Sports reported Tuesday.

The Wizards were in the process of completing a sign-and-trade deal with the Boston Celtics that allows Humphries to come in below the team’s salary cap, according to the Yahoo report. The third year of Humphries’ contract is reported to be a team option.

The Celtics will receive a portion of a trade exception from the three-team deal last week with the Houston Rockets and the New Orleans Pelicans that included forward Trevor Ariza going to the Rockets and center Melvin Ely coming to Washington.

The Wizards have one year under the NBA’s Collective Bargaining Agreement to use the trade exception, which allows Washington to acquire players from other teams for up to the same value of the exception,

As part of the three-team trade between the Rockets, Pelicans and Wizards, Houston gets Ariza, Alonzo Gee, Scotty Hopson and a 2015 first-round draft pick from New Orleans. The Pelicans get center Omer Asik, Omri Casspi and cash considerations from the Rockets.

The 29-year-old Humphries averaged 8.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.0 assist and 20 minutes per game for the Celtics last year. In Washington, he is expected to take the place of backup power forward Trevor Booker, who signed as a free agent with the Utah Jazz on Tuesday.

Humphries has played for the Jazz, Toronto Raptors, Brooklyn Nets, Dallas Mavericks and Celtics in 10 years in the NBA. He has averaged 6.8 points and 5.5 rebounds, including a career-best 13.8 points with the Nets in 2011-12.

Ely, a nine-year NBA veteran, will receive a non-guaranteed contract with the Wizards.
