Celtics co-owner Steve Pagliuca will assume a leadership role in Boston’s bid to land the 2024 Olympics.

Pagliuca will head up a local group’s bid committee, replacing construction magnate John Fish.

The United States Olympic Committee picked Boston as America’s bid city for the 2024 Summer Games, but there have been some missteps that left the USOC concerned about its choice.

The USOC’s bid city must be formally submitted to the International Olympic Committee in September. The 2024 host will be selected in 2017.

Among the cities anticipated to make bids along with Boston are Rome; Paris; Hamburg, Germany; and Budapest, Hungary.
