Atlanta Hawks forward Mike Scott was arrested Thursday morning on a felony drug possession charge in Banks County, Ga.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Scott was charged with possession of marijuana and MDMA, a Schedule I drug.

Sgt. Carissa McFaddin said Banks County Sheriff deputies tried to stop Scott and his brother, Antonn Imhotep Scott, on Thursday morning after spotting a vehicle following others too closely. The 20-year-old Antonn, who was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe, then allegedly led officers on a chase on Interstate 85.

“As deputies attempted to make the traffic stop, the driver sped up to 98 mph and failed to stop,” McFaddin said. “The driver continued for two miles and finally stopped near mile marker 156.

“The occupants advised that they did have marijuana in the vehicle. Deputies located over an ounce of marijuana in the vehicle along with approximately 10.9 grams of MDMA, known as ‘Molly.'”

The two were taken to the Banks County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center. Antonn Scott also was charged with fleeing and attempting to elude law enforcement officers and following too closely.

A Banks County jail administrator said Mike Scott’s bond was $8,100 and Antonn Scott’s was set at $9,300.

“We are aware of the situation involving Mike Scott this morning,” Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer said. “Out of respect for the legal process, we will not have any additional comment at this time.”

In 68 games for the Hawks last season, Scott averaged 7.8 points and 2.9 rebounds. He was selected in the second round of the 2012 NBA Draft by Atlanta and completed his third season with the team.

Scott is under contract for $3.3 million next season, and the Hawks have a $3.3 million team option for 2016-17.
