Atlanta Hawks shooting guard Kyle Korver will undergo ankle surgery on Wednesday after he was injured during Game 2 of the Western Conference finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Hawks’ All-Star 3-point specialist was injured when he crashed into Cavaliers guard Matthew Dellavedova late in the third quarter during a scramble for a loose ball.
Atlanta coach Mike Budenholzer confirmed before Tuesday night’s Game 4 in the best-of-seven series that Korver would need surgery. The decision was made after seeking a second opinion in New York.
The team has not specified the diagnosis on the ankle or a projected date when Korver would be able to return.
Korver averaged 12.1 points and shot 49.2 percent percent on 3-pointers during the regular season. In the playoffs, he was averaging 11.1 points and shooting 39.1 percent from 3-point range before the injury.
