The Washington Wizards reached agreement with the Milwaukee Bucks on a trade for forward Jared Dudley, according to reports Thursday.

The Bucks will receive a future second-round draft pick in exchange for the Wizards taking on Dudley’s contract. On the eve of free agency earlier this week, Dudley exercised the option on the final year of his contract worth $4.25 million in 2015-16.

The Wizards are looking to fill a roster void left by veteran free agent Paul Pierce, 37, after he reached an agreement to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers.

The 6-foot-7 Dudley appeared to confirm the deal with the Wizards on Thursday night when he tweeted: “Milwaukee!!! I know it’s was only there for 1 yr but what a yr!!! From 17 wins to 41 and the playoffs!! We started the foundation #goodluck”

The 29-year-old Dudley averaged 7.2 points per game and shot 46.8 percent from the field in his only season with the Bucks, who acquired him in a deal with the Clippers after the 2013-14 season.

In eight NBA seasons with Charlotte, Phoenix, the Clippers and Bucks, Dudley averages 8.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 595 games.
