NEW YORK — Center Brook Lopez scored 22 points and the Brooklyn Nets pulled away early in the fourth quarter for a 91-83 victory over the Atlanta Hawks in Game 3 of their first-round series on Saturday afternoon.

Rookie forward Bojan Bogdanovic added 19 points and forward Thaddeus Young, who apologized to teammates for having subpar games in Atlanta, added 18.

Six of Young’s points came late in the third quarter, when he started Brooklyn’s decisive 18-0 run that ensured Monday would not be an elimination game. Atlanta leads the best-of-seven series 2-1.

Bucks 92, Bulls 90

MILWAUKEE — Jerryd Bayless hit a wide open layup as time expired, and Milwaukee staved off elimination with a victory over Chicago at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
Shooting guard O.J. Mayo gave the Bucks a nine-point lead, sinking a long 3-pointer as the shot clock expired with 3:01 left. Jimmy Butler and Pau Gasol rallied the Bulls and the game was tied in the closing seconds when Chicago star Derrick Rose was stripped of the ball.

After a Bucks’ timeout, Khris Middleton inbounded to Bayless, whose layup went through the net as time expired.
