Washington Nationals outfielder Jayson Werth will have arthroscopic surgery on his troublesome right shoulder Friday and is expected to be out two to three months, according to a Fox Sports report.
Depending on the speed of his recovery, Werth could miss all of spring training and possibly the start of the regular season.
The 35-year-old left fielder played through the injury last year, batting .292 with 16 home runs and 82 RBIs in 147 regular-season games.
Werth has a career .276 batting average with 186 home runs and 659 RBIs with the Nationals, Philadelphia Phillies, Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays.
