The Texas Rangers signed outfielder Carlos Peguero to a minor-league contract with an invitation to spring training on Tuesday.

The 27-year-old was with the Kansas City Royals in 2014 but spent a majority of the year in Triple-A, where he belted 30 home runs and batted .266 in 104 games. In four games and nine at-bats for the Royals, he hit .222 with one RBI.

In 69 career games in the big leagues with the Royals and Seattle Mariners, Peguero has batted just .196 with nine home runs and 28 RBIs.
