Rangers sign INF Johnson

The Texas Rangers signed infielder Elliot Johnson to a minor league contract Monday, with an invitation to spring training.

Johnson, 31, has played in 318 major league games with four organizations — Tampa Bay, Kansas City, Atlanta and Cleveland. For his career, he has hit .215 with 12 home runs and 69 RBIs. Last year, he appeared in seven games with the Indians, hitting .105.
