MILWAUKEE — Wil Myers expects to be back in the lineup Tuesday when the San Diego Padres return to action Tuesday against the San Francisco Giants at Petco Park.
Myers was a late scratch Sunday afternoon in Milwaukee, after developing tightness in his left forearm during batting practice.
“I had it the last couple days, today was a little worse,” Myers said. “It was one of those things, I was in the cage and I knew that I didn’t feel that I could perform at the big league level.”
The lineup change came after Myers had undergone a series of medical tests on the field Sunday morning to check the strength of his left calf, which cramped up while running to first base in the ninth inning a night earlier, forcing Myers from the game.
“He was getting his last minute swings in before the game and just felt real stiff in his forearm,” Padres manager Andy Green said. “Didn’t feel very free so we went ahead and pulled him. He was not available for the day. Always hurts when you lose a guy like that right before the game.”
Myers has appeared in 38 of the Padres 39 games this season. He’s batting .270 with seven home runs and 17 RBIs.
