The Pittsburgh Pirates reached agreement with pitcher Francisco Liriano on a three-year, $39 million contract, according to reports Tuesday.
The Pirates retained the free-agent left-hander who turned down their one-year, $15.1 million qualifying offer in November.
The 31-year-old Liriano has started 55 games the past two seasons and has a 23-18 record with a 3.20 ERA and 338 strikeouts in 323 innings for the Pirates.
In nine major league seasons with the Pirates, Chicago White Sox and Minnesota Twins, Liriano has a 76-72 record with one save and a 4.08 ERA.
