The Minnesota Twins avoided arbitration with reliever Brian Duensing, reaching agreement Saturday on a one-year contract worth a reported $2.7 million.

The two sides compromised after Duensing requested a $3.1 million salary and the team offer $2.4 million last week. Duensing is eligible to become a free agent after the 2015 season.

Duensing’s contract puts the Twins’ payroll above $106 million for 2015, an increase of about $20 million over 2013.

The 31-year-old Duensing has made 135 appearances and worked 115 1/3 innings the past two years with a 3.67 ERA. Last season, he pitched in 62 games and posted a 3-3 record with a 3.31 ERA in 54 1/3 innings.

“I’m glad the process is over with and we agreed. I love this organization, I like that I’m here,” the left-hander said, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. “I’m excited to get it done.”
