Brewers center fielder Carlos Gomez returned to Milwaukee on Thursday to undergo further tests on his injured hamstring, with a stint on the disabled list looming as a possibility.
Gomez limped off the field Wednesday after beating out a potential double play in the top of the ninth inning of the Brewers’ 4-2 loss to the Cardinals in St. Louis.
Manager Ron Roenicke said Gomez will not play for at least the next two games. The Brewers finished their series against the Cardinals on Thursday and face the Pittsburgh Pirates this weekend.
“If we weren’t concerned at all, we wouldn’t be sending him to (team Dr. William) Raasch,” Roenicke said. “Then we’ll have to make a decision on how long it’s going to be and whether its’ a DL or not. We’ll see what Raasch has to say.”
Gomez is hitting just .235 (8 of 34), with one home run and six RBIs.
